Daily 6-Trait Writing

Help your child develop writing skills using daily lessons that fit into every language arts program. Are you familiar with trait writing? Trait-based writing is an impressive method educators have developed to determine if a child's writing is skilled or not.

The six traits or characteristics that shape quality writing are content; organization; word choice; sentence fluency; voice, and conventions, including grammar, spelling, and mechanics. It may sound ominous, but Daily 6-Trait Writing has made it effortless.

With 125 dynamic writing lessons, Daily 6-Trait Writing will provide your child with practice and instruction concerning all the skills essential to becoming a competent writer. Good as a supplement!

This is great as a supplement when your or your student need something a bit self-directed for a day or a season. I didn't find it to be a great full writing curriculum though. It focuses too much on creative writing at an age when most students are still learning how to use the writing tools needed for creative writing.

Works

The lessons are bit sized and early digestible for learners. They are able to take what they learn and apply to their writing outside of “writing” time.

writing practice

We like Daily 6 trait and have been using it for both kiddos for two years now. I have liked seeing how it has helped my children to grow in their writing skills. I like how it explains definitions at the top, and we love to look at the journal at the end of the year and see their progress.

Good material, we love Evan Moore books

This was a very good progression through different writing skills. I thought it was challenging but age appropriate for my daughter.
