ThinkPlay STEM Gears Extreme

ThinkPlay Gears Extreme is an extraordinary kit from ThinkPlay, the internationally award-winning educational construction system. Designed to explore the fundamental physics of movement and rotation, effects of friction, creating power, and how simple machines need and use gears, this 488-piece set comes with a whole suite of instructions.

The gear wheels come in five sizes with different teeth arrangements, and each gear is marked clearly with its number of teeth. There are also two types of gear wheels, some with a smooth shaft and others with a geared one.

ThinkPlay Gears Extreme's side-connecting block pieces enable your young builder to make circles, curves, and spirals that remain impossible with traditional sets.

With ThinkPlay Chains, your child can build a clock, snowplow, chainsaw, and more technical models such as intricate chain panels. Or, creative engineers can assemble new constructions of an original design.

ThinkPlay Pulleys is an engaging way for your child to investigate the useful simple machine, pulleys. There are eleven appealing pulley projects that your young builders will enjoy, from a bird with fluttering tail feathers to a helicopter with rotating blades. ThinkPlay Pulleys includes nine pulleys, four silicone bands, and detailed instruction sheets. Two fishing models call for some string that you will need to provide.

Note: Colors in your set may vary from those depicted in your manual.

Child not interested

Albeit I think they are very overpriced for what this is. But I have a lego fanatic and builder so I thought these would be a hit-they weren't. My child was pretty bored using these. Maybe in a year or two there will be more interest. The quality is amazing and there are so many neat things to build. I'm hoping maybe we can try these again in the future, but for now my first grader is not excited about it.

Amazing Fun

This is so much fun! My daughter needs a little bit of help at 5. We'll continue to use it next year again, since we only did half. I am super impressed with how cool it is.

perfect for little hands

We had to sit with our little one to help him figure out the pieces and how they work and how to read the directions, after a month or so, he's able to do it on his own. It's worth it if you don't have any other building work for your child to play with. My kiddo loves what he makes!

These just don't get played with

I actually thought these were pretty cool but my daughter is just not interested in them. She is 6. Maybe in a year or two.

Not a big hit here

My sons (5 &3) really don't like these at all. I'm praying they will enjoy the blocks more when they get older. I'm not sure if they will. The blocks are super stiff and hard to put together for them and take them apart. Even when I try to put them together it is really hard to one get them together and two take them apart.
