Zentangle for Kids

Zentangle for Kids is an easy-to-learn, fun way to create striking images by drawing structured patterns.

What is the difference between a doodle and a Zentangle? Doodles are often random and done with no preplanning. Zentangles are deliberate. The patterns each have a specific name and are built one pencil stroke at a time.

By concentrating on completing a design, Zentangle for Kids intentionally facilitates a shift in focus while improving your child’s eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills. Many Zentangle books are available, but this one for children has the most straightforward instructions, the most motivating assignments, and is fully dogma-free. Enjoy.

If the thought of Zen in the title scares you, bear this in mind. Anyone who has ever cross-stitched a design knitted an elaborate pattern or calligraphed a verse has experienced that same deep-thinking, fully-focused condition. If you can get over the name, your child is not only going to love this book; he will actually walk away with transferable skills.

Fun and relaxing for all of us

First, these are a great break from all of the learning we do.
I'm using these books with our 6 and 8 year old and they're both learning to unwind while drawing (one of my favorite activities!).
The work they each create is quite different, and it's been nice for them to do these in their journals instead of just in the book. I'm really glad we purchased two books as it's useful for them to doodle directly in the book (as well as in their journals) and they really appreciate the feeling of having their own special drawing books.

Great book

Loved this for art and even wanted one for myself. Helped with learning to draw, calming down, focus, fun, etc. Would make a great gift as well.

Great ideas!

Great book! Daughter loved it. It has very nice prompts, she made bookmarks and squares for friends and family. Would suggest tracing paper, colored pencils, and cardstock, as your child (or you) will want to do more than what is in the book!
