My Crazy Inventions Sketchbook: 50 Awesome Drawing Activities for Young Inventors

Inventing is a characteristic of being human, yet surprisingly enough, in today’s read and regurgitate academic climate, it is not something that is actively pursued. My Crazy Inventions Sketchbook: 50 Awesome Drawing Activities for Young Inventors can change that. My Crazy Inventions will inspire brainstorming, imagining, and, ultimately, drawing with its creative prompts.

Each spread contains numerous fun-filled illustrations of real and imaginary inventions and scenarios, plus lots of room for your child’s own inventive drawings. “Invent a brand-new candy, a writing tool your friends would like to use, or something that would help you sleep better at night.”

My Crazy Inventions has illustrations of actual inventions and is bursting with fun facts of innovations that have succeeded (M&M’s) and failed (a car wash for humans). My Crazy Inventions is beautifully crafted, with thick pages ready for multiple erasers as your child fine-tunes his design. Also included is an application for a patent and a patent certificate suitable for framing.

Note: Some pages may not suit all families, most notably a bikini-clad sunbathing page.

From the Publisher:
Do you have some crazy inventions up your sleeve? This book is jam-packed with Andrew Rae’s amazing drawings showing all sorts of real inventions that seem too weird to work. How about a dog umbrella? A submarine that looks like a plane… or even a shark. A swimming machine where you don’t get wet? A car wash for people? Someone has even made a device to charge your phone using a hamster!

There is plenty of inspiration to get kids’ minds going, and plenty of room to add their own crazy inventions to the mix. They can design the best beach buggy ever, create a brand new sweet to share with the world, or even draw a transformer dinosaur! Includes a patent certificate for their very own crazy invention.

”My Crazy Inventions Sketchbook is full of idea starters for kids who love to think and draw but do better with prompts. My kids love these kind of books and they are always well-used in our house.”

Second time ordering

My son received this book in his 5th grade curriculum and asked for another one to do in his 7th grade year. The quality of the book is great - the last time he did this book, it held up really well through his work and is a "keeper" on our family bookshelf. He's excited to compare his work at the end of this year to his 5th grade work.

Scratch the creativity itch!

This is such a fun book to inspire creativity and fun in kids. When I first flipped through the pages, I found myself thinking it would be hard, as I couldn't come up with ideas myself. Turns out that was just my boring adult brain. My daughter has come up with some crazy, silly, and even a few inspiring ideas. Sometimes I can tell she mailed it in, but other times she really surprises me. It's become an exercise that she's excited to open and see what the next invention could be. We love it.

art work we love

We love this workbook because it not only get the kiddos drawing but it also helps them to think about WHAT they would want to invent, create, and make something boring into something fun and quirky cool.

Great for creative kids. Also good for anyone who loves drawing, coloring, sketching, etc. So many pages to design things.

Creative and Fun

My daughter is thoroughly enjoying the activities in this book! She takes her time to work through each of the pages and has had some pretty fantastic art AND writing practice drawing and writing about her inventions. She loves working on it as a relaxing brain break during the week. She loves feeling like she is 'making inventions' and sharing them with the family. She has liked similar style books in the past, but I wasn't sure she would be interested in the 'inventions' theme, however, she LOVES IT!
