Plus-Plus Big: Learn and Explore

Pour out the 90 colorful pieces of Plus-Plus Big: Learn and Explore, each with the same simple shape, and your preschooler will happily start putting the pieces together. Plus-Plus Big: Learn and Explore naturally encourages gentle progress in your child’s skills.

He will begin with the fine-motor practice of connecting a couple of pieces to create simple snakes or swords. Over time your child will advance to more complex constructions such as flowers and whales.

Each slightly rubbery piece is made from plastic that is free of phthalates and PVC. Plus-Plus Big: Learn and Explore is relatively new to the U.S. market. It includes their very helpful baseplate and guidebook with ideas. In our Preschool Handbook, you will also find quick tips for introducing Plus-Plus to your children and additional ideas for convergent and divergent models.

New for 2022, Plus-Plus Big: Learn and Explore has wheels to get your creations moving!

About Plus-Plus
Created in Denmark (known for minimalist designs with purposeful function), Plus-Plus Big has an odd name, but a captivating design. Plus-Plus comes in two sizes: the larger Big, which is safe for younger children, ages 1 and up; and the smaller Mini, which is for builders aged 5 and older. Plus-Plus has gained a tremendous following over the last few years in Denmark and is so highly regarded in education that it is used in most Danish schools. Here’s why we’ve included it in the Preschool Curriculum Kit.

Pull out the pictures and your child will intuitively begin to create. Plus-Plus' identical, simple shapes with their slight rubbery texture glide smoothly together with very little pressure. And they stay together! Plus-Plus' pieces grip without slipping and come apart without effort. Plus-Plus encourages children to think creatively about color, design, and structure and is a painless way to develop fine-motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

    so fun

We love these so much that we keep them out for all the kiddos to use, including our 10 year old. They're relaxing to build with and make all sorts of creations. We really like how they're made from recyclable materials.

One of the best for littles!

We have a 6, 4 and 1 year old that enjoy using these together. Can build so many fun things. These are more popular in our house than legos. We now have 2 sets from Timberdoodle of the large ones.

    We like Plus-Plus Big

Plus-Plus Big is just the right size for little hands to build with, and is providing hours of engaging fun. This set has a good amount of pieces, and the extra base plates and wheels are nice to have for building cars. Our wheels don't spin on hard floors, but they do slide fine, and they will roll on a sticky yoga mat. The included booklet is pretty minimal, but the designs and ideas in the Preschool Handbook are excellent. I plan to buy an additional set for more pieces and the Plus-Plus Big Picture Puzzle cards. The only downside is that I sometimes struggle to disassemble the more elaborate creations, and it hurts my hands. I hope that with more use over time they will loosen a little bit.
